Seven Lakes High School cheerleaders to perform “Bring It On” with Theater Under the Stars

Cheerleaders from the award-winning Seven Lakes High School Cheer program will join Theater Under Stars in their summer show Bring it on. The show runs July 8-10, and the SLHS Varsity Cheer Coach is consulting on the production.

SLHS award-winning cheerleaders will perform with TUTS

KISD’s Seven Lakes High School is known for its award-winning cheerleading program with back-to-back University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Championships and back-to-back National Cheerleaders Association Game Day Varsity Grand Division winners.

“The team is made up of students from all walks of life working together to prove that ‘WE’ is more important than ‘ME’,” says SLHS Varsity Cheer coach Amy Weaston.

Bring it on is a TUTS Musical Theater Academy summer performance featuring current high school students and recent graduates from the Houston area. 10 cheerleaders from SLHS are in the show. They are part of Truman and Jackson’s cheerleading squads.

“This experience is unlike anything they’ve ever done before,” says Weston. “Musical theater is definitely different from cheerleading, but these students use their experience learning routines and perform them in front of people during this production.”

Bring it on July 8-10. Tickets are $25.99 and can be purchased on line.

“It helps them work with different choreographers and coaches while having and learning a new style of performance,” says Weaston.

Bring it on is an iconic cheerleading movie that was turned into a musical with music by Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

“This experience is one of those events that they will talk about for the rest of their lives,” says Weston. “For these Spartans, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We are so excited and humbled and blessed to be a part of this show.
